I’m BACK! and loving my project. “Mottled Forest Light” oil painting

Wowee it’s been a bit mad this past month with work, and it’s only going to get madder with the assessment date looming, so I’m getting my posts going before those floodgates open. Developing on from my “Sleepy Common” painting which you can see at http://wp.me/p5nK7c-pK , I’m trying different ways of painting and different lights to respond to.

This painting was an experiment with negative space, meaning I restricted myself to only painting where the mottled light hit, and trying to make the structures appear from just the gaps in between these areas. There’s something magical about broken light on a forest floor…

More to come!
