Backlit Reductions – “Stained Glass Paintings”

After experimenting with different ways to backlight my paintings, I decided that using a lamp was the most successful – it gave off a more organic light, something which originates from a point and seems to come from within rather than behind.

So I got together my best “reduction” paintings and I shone a lamp from behind, and these are the results! I think it adds another dimension, and since I’m focusing on light I think it gets that extra luminosity.

I guess as this point it’s a sort of painting hybrid, and this little niche is quite exciting!
